Kanye West escapes jail time for having another hissy fit

Rapper/producer Kanye West is known for his fits of anger just as much as his music. One of Kanye’s worst outbursts was when he attacked a photographer and broke the man’s camera. Kanye was facing time in jail for the attack, but he has sidestepped jail.

As the story goes, West plead no contest to misdemeanor battery in exchange for the prosecution dropping the grand theft charge. As part of the plea deal, Kanye received 24 months on informational probation. Informational probation means West just needs to stay out of trouble for the 24 months and the charge will be erased from his record.

Kanye West went the extra mile with the plea deal because the artist also agreed to 24 private anger management therapy sessions on top of 250 hours of community service. West was ordered to pay the photographer for his damaged camera equipment and any medical bills.

While the photographer will be reimbursed for his equipment and medical bills, that wasn’t enough for him. The photographer addressed the court and asked that West be put behind bars. The photographer told the court that the trauma and emotional scars stick with him. He concluded the speech by saying he believed Kanye used the attack to sell more copies of his album “Yeezus.” Obviously, all of that fell on deaf ears because Kanye West is a free man.

David Simon hopes to bring his gritty and realistic flavor to HBO's planned Martin Luther King miniseries, as the writer-director confirmed that he'll be involved deeply with the project.

The award-winning creator of Treme and The Wire will spearhead the HBO six-hour miniseries adaptation of Taylor Branch's America: In The King Years. It's the second of two planned Martin Luther King, Jr. projects that Oprah Winfrey is attached to produced —the other is Ava DuVernay's Selma, which has David Oyelowo (Lee Daniels' The Butler) attached to star in, with Paramount distributing.

HBO's miniseries was originally announced back in 2010, but now it seems as if it is ready to be on the go. Simon has agreed, according to Deadline, to write at least the first part of the planned six-hour project. The miniseries will cover the Freedom Rides, the Civil Rights March on Washington, D.C., as well as MLK's relationships with John F. and Robert Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson.

There's no other casting news or expected premiere dates, but Simon will reportedly work on the script with Treme co-creator Eric Overmyer.

"Eric Overmyer and I have taken on a project that was already in HBO's development stable," Simon wrote. "We have agreed to go into a room with Taylor Branch and others and see what can be done for a six-hour miniseries. But as per Blown Deadline's development projects, this is behind another miniseries project for HBO that is closer to production and that we hope to be announcing shortly."

Michael Jackson 31 Year Old Son Allegedly going Public with DNA Evidence

According to TMZ, Michael Jackson has a 31-year-old son -- at least that's what the man claims -- and we're told he plans to go public tomorrow with what he believes is ironclad DNA evidence.

His name is Brandon Howard -- the son of singer Miki Howard, whom Joe Jackson represented back in the 1980s.

Sources close to Brandon tell us, Miki and MJ met in 1982 and Brandon was born soon after.

Brandon grew up in Cleveland and now lives in Miami. He's now a singer who goes by the name B Howard. And he's had some success. We're told he's part of a new Akon song.

As for why B Howard is so sure he's MJ's son ... our sources say he somehow acquired DNA from an old orthodontic device worn by Michael ... it's unclear how he got hold of it, but we're told the test results show a match.

The results will be unveiled Thursday on FilmOn.com.

Oh yeah ... once the DNA results are revealed, he plans to go after the MJ Estate for money.

Estate lawyer Howard Weitzman tells TMZ, "We've never even heard from him," adding, "Any deadline for claiming to be Michael's child has long since passed."
